CATCHPHRASE
Respond quickly & appropriately to emotional situations.

DESCRIPTION
The Emotional Self-Defense workshop is a very intense one-hour session to train your body in responding to emotional situations. Modeled after the structure of Krav Maga, the workshop trains you using physical, mental, and emotional exercises in order to increase your ability to respond to unforeseen emotional crises. Why? So that you have the skills to lead emotionally-charged conversations that deepen instead of destroy relationships. At home. At work. In the community. You will learn a lot in one workshop. You will learn a lot more if you have the courage to keep coming back.

AGENDA
Physical Exercise (20 mins)
Physical activities and metaphors that strengthen your balance and embodiment of emotional concepts.

Emotional Exercise (30 mins)
Emotional scenarios that test your ability to use the ESD technique to respond to rejection, accusation, guilt tripping, betrayal, flattery, etc.

Cooldown (10 mins)
Collective cooldown activities that de-escalate your stress. After the first two parts, you’ll need this.

BIOS
Jim Kleiber grew up in a suburb north of Detroit, MI, until he was 18 and has since interacted with many people around the world. After living and working in the US, Latin America, Europe, and Africa, Jim realized that at the root of human communication is emotion.

Unfortunately, he had no idea how to have conversations about his emotions. Never even thinking of going to see a psychologist, Jim decided to create his own tool–iFeelio, an app for him to privately and directly reflect on his feelings.

After using iFeelio for two years and over 3,200 times, he realized that he wanted something more intense so that he could learn faster. For this and many other reasons, he created Emotional Self-Defense. He blends his consulting skills from Fortune 500s and East Africa, Cuban salsa teaching skills, emotional communication skills, Krav Maga skills, and engineering mind to hone a practical and highly interdisciplinary approach to emotional fortitude
